I like jerky that's tough and on the dryer side, and this brand fits that description well. Other brands often feel too wet and squishy. Also, has good flavor, imo. I do wish there was a little more to the bag tho.
This is not for those of you who like moist, tender jerky! This is for those who love dry, "cowboy style" jerky. The flavor is AMAZING!!! This is my favorite jerky I've found from this website, with their Limon con Chile Carne Seca coming in 2nd, and their Hatch Green Chile Carne Seca coming in 3rd. My 4th is another brand.
I typically enjoy the different selection of hot flavor-themed beef jerky selections I get from JerkyGent. But for this past month’s selection (November 2025), I did not enjoy the flavor of the scorpion-pepper flavor jerky that was sent to me in one of the (4 oz) bag selections. I usually enjoy hot/spicy beef jerky but the scorpion pepper flavored one was way too hot with its after-taste for me.
Out of all the flavors in the box this was probably the best. But difficult to break down and chew.
Love it! Packaging and jerky was premium! Looked like a more expensive gift. My dad said he loved trying the brands and flavors. He found a new favorite and decided to order even more. I purchased the 6 month gift for him, so he's getting even more for Christmas.
Now I remember why I stopped ordering Brooklyn Biltong a few years back. Tried them again and the result was the same....a bag of leftover meat crumbs and barely a piece larger than ½ inch. There are FAR better options out there for Biltong.
There were dozens of excellent jerky choices. I picked three. The Rogue Cherry Chipotle was my favorite. Nice flavors. Small pieces that were soft enough. Field Trips Gochujang beef was quite nice. No fireworks. Big chunks. Could have been stronger in flavor and hotter, but I liked it. Lastly was Van's Smokey Deep in the Red. Heavily coated big honking slabs of beef. A mild hatch chili note but it had that deep rojo notes of New Mexican red chilies that made this one stand out. I will look for few more to try, but at $9 for a 2.5 oz. sample, the total goes up quickly. And it get's eaten in a matter of hours. Yum. There's a few more I want to try.
Love the flavor and the overall quality. Burt to pay $10 for a tiny bag with roughly 10-12 pieces is not right. They need to up the quantity that we are paying for.
The Bourbon flavor comes through well due to their balanced seasoning. Other bourbon flavored jerky I’ve tried was overpowered by the salt and soy, this felt right. I’d love this flavor more if it was on a thicker cut with a little higher moisture content.
I’ve been trying to eat more protein and love good jerky. There’s tons of different options so hoping to find some great brands and flavors. I prefer some moisture and tenderness. Of the 6 I’ve tried so far, 3 were pretty good, 1 was way too dry, another was good but spicier than I prefer and one was something I would add to my list to reorder. Love that I get to keep trying new ones next month.
